Exploring Turks and Caicos: A Memorable Vacation

In June 2023, we took an unforgettable trip to Turks and Caicos, traveling from Birmingham, AL from June 15th to 20th. Our round-trip flights were around $700, and we stayed at a cozy Airbnb (click here). Now, let’s dive into our experience!

First Impressions: Turks and Caicos Travel Tips

The first thing you’ll notice when arriving at the Turks and Caicos airport is how incredibly small it is. Check-in and check-out almost happen in the same spot—it’s quite the experience! Despite the size, the food options near the check-in area are surprisingly delicious.

The entire island spans about 16 miles, so getting around usually takes only 10-15 minutes. Since Turks and Caicos is a British territory, they drive on the left side of the road, and there are no red lights! The primary language is English, and they use USD as currency. Keep in mind that it’s an expensive destination, so plan your budget accordingly.

Day 1: Pool Party Vibes

We kicked off our trip with a pool party at the Airbnb. To make it extra special, we hired a chef and bartender to serve us drinks and food. The chef was recommended by the Airbnb host, and let me tell you—the food was absolutely amazing! Throughout our stay, we didn’t have a single bad meal in Turks and Caicos.

Day 2: Drone Photoshoot and Island Adventures

We started the day with a drone photoshoot to capture the island’s beauty (click here). Next, we took a water taxi ($20) to Captain Oak’s Tiki Bar. While the taxi ride was a bit rough (you get what you pay for!), Captain Oak’s was a blast. You can stand in the water and enjoy drinks in the sun.

For dinner, we visited Castaways, then walked over to Shisha Lounge for hookahs and music. The lounge had a great vibe with a lively crowd—a perfect way to end the night.

Day 3: 4×4 Excursion and Aziza

Our next adventure was a 4×4 excursion (book here). Reminder: they drive on the left side, which made the ride pretty intense—especially without traffic lights! The highlight was reaching the highest point on the island to take in the breathtaking views. A slight hiccup occurred when our guide’s battery died, but we eventually made it back safely.

That evening, we headed to Aziza, a must-visit spot. Be sure to book ahead if you’re with a big group. Everything we tried at Aziza was absolutely delicious!

Day 4: Boat Ride to Noah’s Ark

We spent the day lounging before taking a boat ride to Ship Wreck, where you can jump into the water from the ship. (book here). Please message the captain for itinerary. We just wanted to see Shipwreck, but not necessarily get off the boat. From there, we sailed to Noah’s Ark—and wow, it did not disappoint! The place was packed with people dancing, eating, and drinking. Book VIP tickets in advance, as spots fill up quickly.

Day 5: Departure

Our return flight was delayed, so we chilled at the Airbnb until it was time to leave.

Final Thoughts: Why You Should Visit Turks and Caicos

I can’t wait to return to Turks and Caicos. It’s the perfect place to feel like a celebrity without the pressure (not saying we were celebrities, of course!). This island paradise offers a blend of relaxation, adventure, and vibrant nightlife that’s hard to match.
